Internet General Information

Please carefully read the following important NDTC information regarding: Account time (for dialup) and remote disk space limits, exceeding monthly time penalties (for dialup), e-mail stipulations, public domain information, and connection problems.

Bullet For Dialup users there is a 15 minute idle time-out if the user does not have any data either being transmitted or received. However, most modern computers will never have 15 minutes of idle time. Settings such as "Check for new mail every 5 minutes" will cause the computer to NEVER be idle for the required 15 minutes. Programs such as Instant Messenger, ICQ, IRC chat clients, and others continually communicate with their host servers on the Internet, also negating the 15 minute timeout. You should not count on the 15 minute timeout to automatically disconnect your computer and not run up your online time.

Bullet Dialup users will automatically be disconnected when a 15 hour per session time limit is reached.

Bullet For dialup users on the 15 hour per month program there will be a $2.50 per hour billing charge once you exceed your 15 hours.

Bullet Business OfficeE-mail messages (sending or receiving) are limited to a size of 10 megs. This pertains to messages that are either text based or includes attachments. For email larger than 10 megs we recommend using a program such as icq or ftp. View the download area of our Internet page if you do not already have these programs installed on your computer.

Bullet Only 10 meg are allowed to be sent per E-mail. No E-mail is stored on the server once it has been checked.

Bullet NDTC customers are given a 10 meg limit for server disk space. This information resides on the server in a customer directory. This space is given so users can store information and/or publish their own web pages. People subscribing to a goNDTC account can read any files posted by any other NDTC customer placed on the server's user directory.

The NDTC customer directory is considered public domain. In order to provide users with remote disk space the server must set the permissions as described above. However, information contained in the user directories can not be deleted or modified without the specific users name and password. The customer directory hierarchy is shown on the ftp diagram under the publishing link.

Bullet NDTC is not responsible for personal hardware in your computer system. This includes difficulty connecting due to faulty hardware, low quality modems or software configuration problems. Our technical support personnel are always happy to assist you in trying to resolve any difficulty you are having with your connection.
